Switch 2 Sales Exceed 23 Million Units
Nintendo has released its financial report for the first quarter of its fiscal year (April to June 2026). While console sales have seen a decrease of 34.4% compared to the same period last year, the Switch 2 has still managed to sell 3.82 million units in this quarter, bringing its total sales to over 23 million units.
A significant contributor to these sales appears to be "Tomodachi Life: A Dream Life," which sold 0.66 million units this quarter and has achieved 7.94 million total sales. "Pokémon Pokopia" also added another 1.27 million copies to its total, although sales in Japan are not included as The Pokémon Company handles distribution there for this Switch 2 exclusive.
Notably absent from Nintendo's sales figures exceeding one million units are "Yoshi and the Mysterious Book" and "Star Fox." Both titles were released recently, and it remains to be seen if they will reach the million-unit milestone in future reports. The upcoming release of "Splatoon Raiders" in July will also be a key title to monitor.
Looking ahead, Nintendo's roadmap includes several highly anticipated first-party titles: expansions for "Pokémon Pokopia," "Fire Emblem: Fortunes Weave" (releasing September 17th), "Nintendo Switch Sports Resort" (October 22nd), "Zelda Ocarina of Time" (November 12th, 2026), "Xenoblade Genesis" (next year), and "Pokémon Wind and Waves" (2027).
The report also highlights the strong support from third-party developers, with nearly thirty logos featured, including titles like "The Duskbloods," "Resident Evil Veronica," "Onimusha: Way of the Sword," and "Orbitals."
In a significant cinematic achievement, "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" has surpassed $1 billion at the box office, making it the second most successful video game-based film to date.
