SAGA Barcelona Game Fest is Born

Fira de Barcelona will host the inaugural edition of the SAGA Barcelona Game Fest, taking place from October 9 to 11. This new festival unifies three major video game events previously held in the city: SAGA Saló del Gaming, Retrobarcelona, and BCN Game Fest. The primary goal of this merger is to establish itself as "the largest video game exhibition in Southern Europe."

While the initiative integrates three pillars, BCN Game Fest stands out due to its history as an evolution of the well-known Indie Dev Day (IDD). Both events, coordinated by the same individuals and held in similar locations and periods, shared the spirit of supporting the industry.

IDD experienced significant growth in 2025, leading to a rebranding to reflect its expansion. In addition to numerous stands, presentations, and workshops, there was an intensified focus on B2B and networking areas, aiming to maximize value for developers. The high attendance at its previous editions, held at La Farga de Hospitalet de Llobregat, confirmed the success of its proposition.

This successful reception has been a key factor in the current unification and the choice of a larger venue, with the aim of expanding the event's capacity and dimensions. While time will tell if this is the optimal strategy, the organizations involved are firmly committed to this collaboration to deliver the best possible event this autumn.

The new location, close to Sants station, promises to facilitate public access. However, this change implies certain trade-offs: while Barcelona gains another event for its cultural offerings, Hospitalet de Llobregat loses a large-scale event of this kind.
