Michael Chandler's UFC 331 Prediction: Ruffy to Defeat Tsarukyan
Michael Chandler, who previously fought Mauricio Ruffy, anticipates a decisive win for Ruffy in the UFC 331 co-main event against Arman Tsarukyan.
The lightweight bout between Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331 is positioned as a potential title eliminator. Tsarukyan, currently the top contender, faces Ruffy, a rapidly ascending fighter.
The winner of Tsarukyan vs. Ruffy is expected to challenge current lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. Ruffy has recently secured victories over notable opponents Rafael Fiziev and Michael Chandler, establishing himself as a formidable striker in the division.
While many observers expect Tsarukyan to utilize his grappling to neutralize Ruffy's striking, a former rival of Ruffy believes an upset is likely at UFC 331.
Chandler Foresees Ruffy Knocking Out Tsarukyan at UFC 331
During an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Michael Chandler shared his perspective on the upcoming fight.
"Arman is a capable fighter who stays active, putting himself in good positions... he has a solid strategy to defeat Mauricio Ruffy. However, the question is whether he can execute it. I believe Ruffy will land some significant strikes," Chandler commented on Ruffy's prospects.
"Arman will undoubtedly aim for a takedown, as he's unlikely to engage in a striking battle with Ruffy. He'll try to apply pressure, but I couldn't achieve that... I think Ruffy has built momentum, and Arman might be experiencing some ring rust..."
"Mauricio Ruffy is skilled, and I think he's more capable than many give him credit for," Chandler concluded regarding Ruffy's potential. "Therefore, I'm picking Ruffy in this fight."
