Real Madrid Defender Confirms Altercation with Rudiger

Sports news » Real Madrid Defender Confirms Altercation with Rudiger

Alvaro Carreras, a defender for Real Madrid, appears to have acknowledged that his teammate Antonio Rudiger physically struck him during a heated exchange in the dressing room last month. Reports this week identified Carreras as the player on the receiving end of Rudiger’s outburst.

Carreras has been a subject of media attention recently, particularly after he was seen seemingly amused by Fran Garcia being substituted in ahead of him against Espanyol. Less than 24 hours later, it emerged that Rudiger had slapped him during an argument that took place between Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Alaves and their 1-1 draw with Real Betis. The German veteran has reportedly apologized to his fellow players and treated them to lunch as a gesture of remorse.

Carreras’ Statement Appears to Confirm Rudiger Incident

In a statement posted on his Instagram story late Tuesday night, Carreras seems to be defending himself against accusations of unprofessional conduct related to the substitution of Fran Garcia.

In recent days, certain insinuations and comments have surfaced about me that are simply not true. My commitment to this club and to the coaches I’ve had has been unwavering from day one, and it will continue to be so. Since my return, I have always worked with the utmost professionalism, respect, and dedication. I have fought very hard to fulfill my dream of coming home.

The statement goes on to seemingly confirm the incident with Rudiger.

Regarding the incident with a teammate, it was an incident that does not usually occur, without relevance, which has been sorted out. My relationship with the whole team is very good. Hala Madrid!

Real Madrid Dressing Room Atmosphere Under Scrutiny

Carreras is the second Real Madrid player to issue a public statement addressing stories circulating in the local press on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, Kylian Mbappe addressed reports of his own heated exchange with a staff member. The 27-year-old did not comment on other aspects of the report, which suggest discontent within Real Madrid and the dressing room regarding his recent activities.
