Jake Hager, a familiar face in professional wrestling and mixed martial arts, sustained an eye injury during his appearance at Power Slap on September 17. The incident highlights the physical risks inherent in the slap-fighting competition.

Hager, known as Jack Swagger during his WWE tenure and also active in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has a background in combat sports.

The injury occurred at Power Slap 23 in Lubbock, Texas, during Hager's heavyweight bout against Johnny Magna. Reports indicate Magna struck Hager in the eye during the second round. Hager expressed discomfort to officials, stating, "He hit me right in the eye."

Following the blow, blood appeared around Hager's eye. Medical staff examined him, and the referee halted the match. Magna was declared the winner by technical knockout.

Hager's injury ended the fight prematurely. He appeared visibly frustrated by the stoppage. Specific details on the diagnosis and the extent of the eye injury remain unconfirmed, and there's no update on his return to competition.

This marks another challenging outing for Hager in Power Slap, following a previous knockout loss.

Hager joined Power Slap in 2026. He previously competed in professional wrestling, winning world championships as Jack Swagger, and later transitioned to MMA, fighting as a heavyweight for Bellator.

He won his Power Slap debut in April. However, he has since faced consecutive losses, including the September 17 stoppage. Reports suggest Hager has a six-appearance contract with the promotion, raising questions about how this injury will affect future scheduled fights.

Currently, the focus is on Hager's recovery from the concerning injury sustained during the Power Slap event.
