Sports news ยป Joe Lauzon to Make Bare-Knuckle Debut, First Fight Since 2019

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) is set to feature former UFC standout Joe Lauzon of Bridgewater, MA, at their highly anticipated event, BKFC 92, scheduled to take place at Fenway Park on Saturday, August 29th. This marks Lauzon’s debut in BKFC, where he will compete in the welterweight division against an opponent yet to be revealed.

Lauzon, a seasoned veteran with fifteen years in the UFC, boasts a hard-fought record of 28 wins and 15 losses. His career in the octagon was marked by memorable contests against notable fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Diego Sanchez, Al Iaquinta, Anthony Pettis, Kenny Florian, and Brandon Melendez. The fan-favorite, who hails from Boston, was known for delivering numerous ‘Fight of the Night’ performances.

“Joe Lauzon is one of the most recognizable sports figures in the Boston area, and we are incredibly enthusiastic about his bare-knuckle debut at our Fenway Park event,” stated David Feldman, Founder and President of BKFC.

Joe Lauzon expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to be working with BKFC. The opportunity to step back into the spotlight, especially in Boston, was something I couldn’t pass up.”

He further elaborated on the significance of the venue: “What truly made me excited was the prospect of fighting at Fenway Park. I’ve competed in Boston before, including at TD Garden, but there’s a unique magic in fighting on the hallowed grounds of Fenway. I grew up a Red Sox fan, played baseball as a child, and even watched the Red Sox clinch the World Series during my college years. The chance to fight there is truly incredible.”

“Boston has always shown incredible support for me. Every time I’ve fought there, my friends, family, and fans have packed the venue. I eagerly anticipate experiencing that energy once more. There are few venues as iconic as Fenway Park, and the opportunity to compete there is an experience I will cherish forever.”

BKFC 92 is a historic event, as it will be the first sanctioned bare-knuckle fighting event to be held in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The evening’s action will unfold directly on the field and will be headlined by BKFC Featherweight World Champion and Pound-for-Pound’s #3 ranked fighter, ‘King’ Kai Stewart (9-0) from Great Falls, Montana. He will be defending his world title for a record sixth time against the formidable New England combat sports star Harry ‘The Hitman’ Gigliotti (6-0, 5 KOs) of Haverhill, MA.

Additional bouts for this world-class bare-knuckle fighting spectacle will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
