Hansi Flick Acknowledges Bordalas’ Wisdom Amidst Barcelona’s Injury Struggles

Sports news » Hansi Flick Acknowledges Bordalas’ Wisdom Amidst Barcelona’s Injury Struggles

Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, has indicated that the club will conduct a thorough review of their persistent injury issues at the conclusion of the current season. The campaign has been marred by frequent absences of key players. Flick also conceded that Getafe manager Jose Bordalas was correct in advising him to concentrate solely on his own team, referencing a past verbal exchange between the two managers from two seasons prior.

Getafe poses a significant challenge for Barcelona. The team has suffered only one home defeat in the last three months, and their home ground has been a venue where Barcelona has not secured a victory since 2019. Getafe has also achieved success in seven out of their last ten matches.

“They defend exceptionally well, and over their last ten games, they are second in the league standings,” Flick commented. “They have their distinct philosophy, and its success is paramount. For us, maintaining rhythm is crucial. If we can achieve the necessary rhythm.”

Flick Discusses Barcelona’s Injury Problems

The most recent significant injury concern in Spain has been the setback for Lamine Yamal, which will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.

“This situation is difficult for us, and for him as well,” Flick stated. “I believe he is highly focused now. This is his first muscular injury. He is motivated. While he is out for us, he will be available for the World Cup, and he will return even stronger than before.”

Overall, Barcelona has been disproportionately affected by injuries this season. Previously, Flick had suggested that the medical and coaching staff needed to identify the root causes of these problems.

“We must analyze everything,” Flick explained. “We will do so after the season concludes, when we have ample time. We need to identify areas for improvement, including what the coaching staff can do better. The situation is worse than it has been. However, we have six games remaining, and my focus is on Getafe. It will not be an easy match. We aim to win and will give our all. We are aware it will be different from our previous game.”

Flick on Bordalas’ Comments – ‘He’s Right’

Bordalas had spoken at his press conference prior to Flick’s, advising the German coach to focus his discussions on his own team rather than on others, as had been the case in the past.

“He is correct,” Flick acknowledged. “Focusing on one’s own team is key; he is right. However, at the end of a match, emotions can run high for us too. As coaches, we are fighting alongside the players to win games. I have no issues with that.”

Barcelona is scheduled to play at the Coliseum at 16:15 CEST against Getafe. They will be looking to maintain their nine-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the league table. Real Madrid will face Real Betis on Friday night.
