Sony has officially announced new pricing for its PlayStation hardware, confirming earlier rumors of substantial price increases. All PlayStation 5 models will experience a €100 increase, while the PlayStation Portal will see its price rise by €30. These adjustments are set to take effect on April 2nd across all regions.

This marks the third price hike for the PlayStation 5 since its initial launch. The first increase occurred in 2022, adding €50 to the console's cost. Another €50 rise followed in 2025, though that particular adjustment only impacted the Digital Edition model.

The updated prices in Euros are as follows:

  • PS5 – €649.99 (previously €549.99)
  • PS5 Digital Edition – €599.99 (previously €499.99)
  • PS5 Pro – €899.99 (previously €799.99)
  • PlayStation Portal – €249.99 (previously €219.99)

The company attributes these price adjustments to "ongoing global economic pressures." Sony stated, "We understand that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we have determined that this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue to deliver innovative and high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide."

This trend is not unique to Sony, as other major players like Xbox have also increased hardware prices for similar reasons. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that a console launched in November 2020, over five years ago, has seen such a significant cumulative increase from its original launch price of €499, despite frequent promotional sales.
