11bit Studios recently hosted the Frostpunk Franchise Fest, a digital event dedicated to its acclaimed survival and strategy game series. With 11 million players having already enjoyed Frostpunk, the studio aims to further expand its fanbase with upcoming expansions, remakes, and ports.

The main announcement of the event was the reveal of "Breach of Trust," a new expansion for Frostpunk 2. In this campaign, players will need to secure the survival of New Edinburgh, confronting not only the game's harsh weather conditions but also a volcano whose activity increases as the city relies more on geothermal energy. While no release date has been set, the DLC is already in closed playtesting, suggesting an imminent launch.

11bit Studios, known for the success of This War of Mine and the first Frostpunk, also announced "Frostpunk 1886." This will be the "definitive version" of the original 2018 game, promising "substantial new content." More details are expected in future development diaries, with a release planned for 2027.

An unexpected reveal from the brief event was the port of the original Frostpunk (the 2018 version) for Nintendo Switch. Despite the original Nintendo console being nearly a decade old, this port demonstrates the game's longevity and the platform's versatility, also being compatible with the upcoming Switch 2.
