Beat the Beats VR Launches on PC with Expanded Content
Despite continuous efforts to track new game releases, particularly in the realm of virtual reality, some significant titles occasionally go unnoticed due to the sheer volume of games constantly entering the market.
This was the situation with Beat the Beats. Two years after its initial debut on PS VR2, the rhythm game has now made its way to PC. The PC version, available since April 2nd on both Steam and Meta Quest, boasts additional content compared to its original PlayStation release.
Originally conceived with a fitness focus, Beat the Beats evolved into an engaging rhythm arcade experience. Its core gameplay challenges players to punch and dodge to the beat of the music, offering an immersive and highly enjoyable experience akin to other successful VR rhythm games like Beat Saber. While it's common to find yourself sweating and possibly a bit sore the following day, the game's addictive quality shines through, especially when players become fully immersed in the rhythm, a sensation often amplified by the isolating nature of VR headsets.
Lucas González and Álvaro Soriano, the minds behind Parallel Circles, provided insights into the game's development during an appearance on the Podcast Reload over two years ago, coinciding with its PlayStation 5 launch. That interview explored various aspects, from the initial inspiration, sparked by witnessing a friend's fascination with Beat Saber, to the unique challenge of one of the creators not possessing a natural inclination for rhythm.
In addition to its expansion to new virtual reality platforms, Beat the Beats has also rolled out a free content update for its PS VR2 version. This update introduces three new albums and two game modes, offering a compelling incentive for players who have already mastered the original content to jump back into the action.
