Atlantic Games Conference 2026: Carballo Solidifies as a Hub for Video Game Development in Galicia
The Galician town of Carballo is set to host the second edition of the Atlantic Games Conference this weekend. Following a successful debut in 2025, Sara Pérez Lantes and Juan Alberto Martínez Lopez have once again organized this event, which aims to strengthen the community of video game professionals in the region and boost the development scene in Galicia.
This initiative is crucial for decentralizing the sector's activity in Spain, traditionally concentrated in major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, and Málaga. Thus, on April 10th and 11th, the Fórum de Carballo will become a meeting point for developers, creators, and enthusiasts, drawing attention to the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula.
The organizers aspire to showcase the "excellent work of professionals from Galicia, the rest of the peninsula, and Europe" through a varied program of talks and workshops. The first edition aimed to consolidate the local developer community and serve as a platform for exchanging ideas.
Last year's event organization was highlighted, and the presentations from that edition are available on the conference's YouTube channel, offering a visual summary of what transpired.
Exclusive Workshops and Activities
One of the major novelties this year is the specialized workshops. The Atlantic Games Conference has brought together prominent figures such as video game localizer Iago Álvarez, game director Maikel Ortega, artist Monkeybark, and solo developer Juno Menager. These four experts will lead workshops during the main days of the event.
Furthermore, the conference extends its activities to April 9th and 12th with pre- and post-event sessions. These include a pixel art workshop by Marina González from Deconstructeam on the afternoon of April 9th, a talk by Isi Cano on Sunday at noon, and a workshop by Lucas Ramada at the Rego da Bolsa Library, also on the afternoon of April 9th. All these activities are free but require prior registration due to capacity and logistical limitations.
Renowned Speakers
The program features a dozen talks spread across April 10th and 11th, with a lineup of high-caliber speakers. Among them are: Pierre Corbinais, director; Lucía Herrero, communication and marketing expert; Cristopher J. Mendoza, technical artist; Eva Pérez, video game designer; Aquiles T.M, musician and solo developer; Victoria Borrás, editorial founder and philosophical communicator; Harry Alisavakis, technical artist; Luc Alvarado, developer; Hernán Calvo, music producer; and Adrian Dono, concept artist.
Beyond the Talks
During the two main days, attendees will have the opportunity to visit various stands at the Fórum de Carballo. The Atlantic Games Conference will also offer other activities, such as a live recording of a specialized podcast and a closing concert by Lorenzo Redaelli, who also participated in the previous edition.
