Chico Kwasi etched his name in GLORY history on Saturday, April 25th, at the RTM Stage in Rotterdam. In the main event of GLORY 107, Kwasi (46-6-2, 23 KO) achieved a monumental victory, becoming only the second fighter in the organization’s history to simultaneously hold world titles in two different weight divisions.
The reigning welterweight champion moved up to challenge Donovan Wisse (23-2, 10 KO) for the middleweight crown. In a closely contested bout that went down to the wire, the 28-year-old Kwasi emerged victorious, securing the middleweight title. With this win, Kwasi joins the elite ranks of Alex Pereira as the only fighters to achieve the status of double champion in GLORY.
In other notable bouts, Tariq ‘Cookie’ Osaro (31-5-1, 17 KO) returned to the winner’s circle with a dominant performance against rival Nico ‘Big Sexy’ Horta (26-12, 4 KO), finishing him with a powerful uppercut in the first round. The light heavyweight “proving grounds” matches saw impressive victories from Cem Caceres (20-3, 14 KO), Mo Touchassie (20-3, 14 KO), Stefan Latescu (20-6, 10 KO), Mohammed Hamdi (22-4, 10 KO), Luis Tavares (65-11, 21 KO), and Albert Ugrincic (12-4, 5 KO). These fighters are now making their case for a spot in the upcoming COLLISION 9 eight-man grand prix on June 13th, where the vacant GLORY light heavyweight world championship will be on the line.
The main card also featured Nabil Khachab (31-7-1, 4 KO) securing a hard-fought decision win over veteran Errol Koning (47-18, 15 KO). Additionally, Mohammed Boutasaa (20-3, 4 KO) made a strong impression in his GLORY debut with a victory over Cedric Do (50-8-1, 30 KO).
On the GLORY 107 superfight series, heavyweight contender Rade Opacic (24-8, 17 KO) bounced back with a unanimous decision win against Colin George (24-15, 22 KO). Deniz Demirkapu (17-5, 11 KO) continued to deliver exciting performances, stopping Mohamed Hamami (17-5, 8 KO). Italian prospect Michael Samperi (37-3, 19 KO) made his GLORY debut a memorable one, delivering a potential knockout of the year contender.
