Borralho, who last competed at UFC 326 with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Reinier de Ridder, revealed the extent of his injury. He explained that the displaced rib had become a serious concern, as there was a risk of it puncturing his lung. This dangerous situation led to the decision to undergo surgery.
“Unfortunately, the rib didn’t heal, and the displacement was dangerous because it could have punctured my lung, so we had to resort to surgery,” Borralho stated in a social media post. “Unfortunately, the fight at UFC 330 with my friend Joe Pyfer will not happen. I hope to be back soon and able to do what I love in the UFC.”
Joe Pyfer, Borralho’s intended opponent, is currently on a strong four-fight winning streak within the UFC. His most recent performance saw him secure a knockout victory over former two-time middleweight champion Israel Adesanya earlier this year.
The UFC 330 fight card has yet to be fully revealed, though rumors suggest welterweight champion Islam Makhachev is slated to defend his title against Ian Machado Garry in the main event. Further fight announcements are anticipated soon.
