A highly anticipated wrestling showdown between long-time rivals Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier is reportedly nearing confirmation. Alfredo Auditore, CEO of ALF Global, has indicated that the match is “nearly confirmed from both sides.”
Jones and Cormier, both former UFC champions, served as opposing coaches on a recent season of ALF Reality. Despite their history, tensions remain high between the two, with Jones often citing Cormier as the source of lingering animosity.
ALF Global is aiming to capitalize on this rivalry by organizing a wrestling match. This contest would offer Cormier an opportunity to secure a victory over Jones, albeit outside the MMA octagon where Cormier has openly expressed his desire for a win.
Auditore shared the news, stating, “Weโve organized a wrestling match between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier in our PWL league. Itโs nearly confirmed from both sides.” He later reiterated the potential bout’s status as “In the works” in an Instagram comment.
However, Daniel Cormier remains skeptical about Jones’ willingness to accept the challenge. Cormier has repeatedly stated that Jones has declined similar wrestling propositions in the past. In a recent video, Cormier expressed his conviction, “Jon Jones and I. That is a 10-0 match. Every single time. I know it. And he knows it… He will not wrestle me. He wonโt do it.”
Cormier suggested that a seven-figure payday was offered for the wrestling match. Despite the financial incentive, Cormier believes Jones is hesitant to compete, fearing it could tarnish his legacy if he were to lose, given Cormier’s confidence in his wrestling prowess against “Bones.”
