Alvaro Arbeloa, the current manager of Real Madrid, has expressed a lack of concern regarding his future at the club beyond the current season. While his tenure is expected to conclude at the end of the season, with Real Madrid unlikely to secure any trophies, speculation suggests he will not be at the helm next year.
Arbeloa’s team is currently nine points behind in La Liga and has been eliminated from the Copa del Rey and Champions League. His side’s struggles to achieve results that would support his permanent candidacy have led to this outlook. Speaking after the defeat to Bayern Munich, Arbeloa told Diario AS that he feels he has nothing to prove.
“As I’ve stated, since I took this role, it hasn’t been about proving my coaching level. I’ve always aimed to help the players on the pitch, not to win solely through my decisions. We’ve encountered formidable opponents, including Kompany’s Bayern Munich, Guardiola’s City, and Simeone’s Atletico – teams that, in my opinion, largely reflect their coaches’ styles.”
“I’m uncertain about the extent of my influence on this team, the percentage. It’s undoubtedly much less than in the examples I’ve given, or what Castilla might have had under my guidance. As I’ve always said, I’ve consistently tried to assist the club in any way possible, and I will continue to do so until my final day.”
Real Madrid Future ‘Does Not Worry Me’
When questioned about whether his team’s performances in the Champions League clashes against Manchester City and Bayern Munich provided sufficient arguments for his continued tenure, Arbeloa remained steadfast.
“It doesn’t worry me at all, and I will fully understand any decisions the club makes. As I mentioned, I am a man of the club. If I feel disappointment today, it’s not for myself but for Real Madrid, because we won’t be lifting the sixteenth title this year. My regret is for the players, the club, and the fans.”
“Not for myself. My future is of no concern to me. Since I assumed this position, I haven’t felt the slightest bit of worry. As I’ve previously stated, I believe I’ve done everything within my power to help my players secure victories every day.”
‘It’s The Club’s Decision’ – Alvaro Arbeloa
Arbeloa declined to speculate on his future plans, neither confirming nor denying whether he would consider managing another club or accepting an offer to remain at Real Madrid.
“At this moment… (smiles), I’m not contemplating any of that. As I’ve said, it’s the club’s decision, and I am committed to the club. My sole desire is for Real Madrid to achieve success, irrespective of who is on the bench.”
Since Arbeloa’s appointment, there has been speculation about potential replacements, with names like Mauricio Pochettino, Unai Emery, and Jurgen Klopp linked to the role. While this talk had subsided following a period of positive results, it has resurfaced, and currently, there is no clear frontrunner to succeed Arbeloa.
