For the past 15 years, Barcelona and Real Madrid have been prominent figures in the acquisition of young Brazilian talent, with Neymar Junior’s move sparking a renewed focus on developing teenagers. In recent times, they have often found themselves competing with Manchester City, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain for these emerging stars.
Barcelona recently took a chance on Vitor Roque, though he was sold back to Brazil 18 months after his arrival, while Real Madrid invested in Endrick Felipe two summers ago. The latest name linked to Barcelona is Eduardo Conceicao, the next promising player to emerge from Palmeiras’ esteemed academy. Reports surfaced last week indicating that Sporting Director Deco had met with Conceicao’s representatives, expressing the club’s interest in the 16-year-old.
Manchester United’s Pursuit of Eduardo Conceicao

Initially, Conceicao’s name garnered attention with links to Manchester City, following reports that the City Group had dispatched scouts to observe him and initiated contact with Palmeiras. English media outlets are now reporting that Newcastle United has submitted the first official offer for Conceicao, reportedly totaling €25 million plus €15 million in performance-related add-ons. It is believed that Manchester United has surpassed this offer, tabling €40 million plus variables.
Conceicao will not be eligible to move to Europe until he reaches the age of 18, which is two years away. He recently signed an extension with Palmeiras until 2029, which includes a €100 million release clause.
Barcelona Denies Interest in Conceicao
The same sources now report that Barcelona’s claimed interest in Conceicao has been exaggerated. The club has reportedly conveyed that there is “nothing” concrete with the player and that their name is being used to inflate his valuation.
It is common for Barcelona and Real Madrid to be mentioned in connection with any emerging talent from Brazil or Argentina. This situation casts doubt not only on Barcelona’s genuine interest but also leaves Manchester United fans questioning whether their club’s name is also being strategically leveraged by the player’s agents.
