The latest Women-Led Games event, part of the Summer Game Fest 2026, offered a focused presentation celebrating and promoting games created by women. The showcase featured a variety of titles, including recently released games like Black Jacket and Luna Abyss (both available on Game Pass), as well as Trackastrophe!, a rail-puzzle game for those who enjoyed Spooky Express.
It’s a commendable approach to continue supporting games after their launch. For instance, Treeplanter, released in April, demonstrates a commitment from its developers to plant a tree for every copy sold, a cause certainly worth highlighting.
Last year’s Women-Led Games edition presented an impressive lineup, featuring titles such as A Heavy Morning, Grave Seasons, and Perfect Tides: Station to Station. This year saw some returning games, including Schrรถdinger’s Call, a visual novel by Shueisha Games developed during the pandemic, and lily’s world XD, a 20-year-old teen computer investigation game that transforms into a terrifying experience and now has a demo available!
To fully appreciate the event’s offerings, it’s best to watch it in its entirety. After careful selection, we’ve highlighted five standout games:
Inkblood
Hey Bird!’s Inkblood puts players in the shoes of an Inquisitor tasked with uncovering the truth behind a series of murders. The game presents a unique and unsettling aesthetic, with the map even tattooed on the back of the character’s driver, enhancing its immersive and dark atmosphere. The developers shared insights into the game’s artistic inspiration and development process, suggesting it will be another compelling indie title under the Critical Reflex label.
Frieda is Changing
Frieda is Changing follows a teenager investigating the disappearance of her sister in a village, even if it means defying authority. The game recently launched its Kickstarter campaign, building on successful social media promotion. It’s a narrative-driven adventure that promises a compelling personal mystery.
Burn With Me
Among the deckbuilders featured, Burn With Me by Nozomu Games stands out with its satanic, summoning circle theme. While other games like Arcane Eats (also released this year) offer different gameplay mechanics, Burn With Me’s dark and ritualistic approach is particularly intriguing. A demo is available on Steam, with the full PC release anticipated for summer this year.
The Regreening
The Regreening tackles the theme of environmental restoration. Players will be tasked with cleaning up polluted areas and revitalizing habitats by planting and replanting flora, bringing life back to desolate landscapes. Positive Impact Games has been actively promoting this simulation, which has grown from social media efforts to a showcase with a wider audience. While a release date is not yet set, a playtest is currently underway.
Every Wednesday
This pixelart game is set in a laundromat where the absence of mobile phones encourages customers to engage in conversations, becoming integral parts of each other’s lives. The premise is intriguing, and the game’s success will likely hinge on its writing. Every Wednesday is scheduled for release on PC in February 2027.
Fallosophy
Fallosophy offers a unique vertical journey through two and a half millennia of Western philosophy, from Plato’s cave to the present day and beyond. Players guide a metal ball upwards through a massive structure using spades. The game ingeniously blends its educational ambitions with elements of pinball and rage-game mechanics, featuring heroic ascents punctuated by frustrating falls that send players back down, metaphorically and physically representing intellectual setbacks. It’s a clever and noteworthy concept.
