The Tribeca Festival has announced the official selection for its video game program, coinciding with the festival’s 25th anniversary and the fifth year of video game inclusion. Among the fourteen selected titles is Virtue and a Sledgehammer, the latest offering from Selkie Harbour and Deconstructeam. This collaboration has previously produced the acclaimed “Many Nights a Whisper,” and with support from Devolver Digital, their new project promises greater artistic ambition and scope. A release is anticipated this year, though a specific window has not yet been provided.
The selection also features other notable games, including Löfsong, a standout from a recent ID@Xbox showcase, the humorous “Truck-Kun Is Supporting Me From Another World?!” by Strange Scaffold, and the precision platformer “Rebounder” with its striking comic-book art style.
The complete list of games in the festival’s official selection is:
- Control Resonant
- Demi and the Fractured Dream
- Drifted
- Escape the Internet: Part 2
- Forever Ago
- Kidbash: Super Legend
- Lofsöng
- Milktooth Project
- Rebounder
- Rivage
- Rockbeasts
- There Are No Ghosts at the Grand
- Truck-Kun Is Supporting Me From Another World?!
- Virtue and a Sledgehammer
A particular point of interest is “Milktooth Project,” a title from a London-based team consisting of artist Catherine Unger, designer Daisy Fernández, and programmer George Batchelor. While details are scarce, the project’s working title is reportedly “Mable,” described as a puzzle-adventure game blending the visual style of Tove Jansson with existential themes and a “fetch quest” structure reminiscent of “Shadow of the Colossus.”
The festival will conclude with the Tribeca Games Awards, honoring one of the selected titles. Winners will be announced in mid-August. Past recipients, such as “Norco” and “Cairn,” highlight the awards’ role in identifying promising upcoming games, as winners are typically titles yet to be released.
