Jon Jones, a prominent UFC figure, has taken responsibility for heavyweight fighter Gable Steveson's swift exit from the Octagon following his loss at UFC 331. Steveson experienced a surprising defeat against Sean Sharaf, ending in a knockout just 12 seconds into the match, despite being favored to win.

Following the fight, Steveson, accompanied by Jon Jones and his team, left the Octagon without acknowledging Sharaf. This departure drew criticism from figures like Daniel Cormier. However, Jones clarified that the decision to leave was his, not Steveson's.

In a recent statement, Jones explained, "It was my decision to take Gable straight to the back after the fight. Honestly, it was the first time in this situation for me, and my instant reaction was to get my friend to the back to make sure he was ok."

Jones expressed confidence in Steveson's future, stating, "Gable’s work ethic and will to win is there, and I stand by him and believe he will go on to be one of the best heavyweights in the UFC. He will be back; I’m sure of it."

Steveson, an Olympic gold medalist, had previously won his UFC debut against Elisha Ellison at UFC 329. Jones indicated he would continue to support Steveson as the fighter recovers from this defeat and prepares for his return.
