Gable Steveson's team maintains a positive outlook following a sudden and decisive defeat. Steveson's fifth professional MMA bout this past Saturday against Sean Sharaf at UFC 331 did not unfold as planned. The Olympic gold medalist was knocked out by a clean left hook, with subsequent ground punches rendering the fight a formality. Steveson was unconscious, ending his undefeated streak in a mere 12 seconds.

Some observers suggest Steveson experienced a difficult fight week, partly due to his reaction to Sharaf's public challenge regarding past sexual assault allegations. Steveson's manager, Abe Kawa, shared a message of support for his fighter on Instagram.

Kawa wrote, "It’s ok that Gable got caught. It’s ok that he was booed. It’s ok his opponent talked sh*t. It’s ok that the world is kicking him when down. It’s the life he chose. Islam got clipped. Arman has lost. DJ has lost. Gsp lost. Dc lost. Jose Aldo lost. All went on to have absolutely legendary careers. We stand by our guy. He will be back real soon and he will be great!"

Steveson drew criticism for leaving the Octagon before the official result was announced. UFC 331 color commentator Daniel Cormier voiced his disapproval, though UFC President Dana White appeared less critical of Steveson's early departure.

While this victory marks the most significant of Sharaf's MMA career to date, it presents a major challenge for Steveson. His response to this defeat in the coming months will be closely watched.
