Fellow Traveller has announced the release date for Titanium Court, the new game from AP Thomson. It is scheduled to be published on Steam on April 23rd.
Titanium Court describes itself on Steam as “a surreal strategy game for clowns and criminals.” In practical terms, it can be characterized as an unpredictable mix of roguelike, match-3, and strategy, all seasoned with a generous dose of humor through its captivating script.
In recent months, the game has gained popularity largely due to its demo, which has been available for a few weeks and remains accessible on Steam. Its presence at the Independent Games Festival also contributed significantly, where it won the Excellence in Design award and the Grand Prize Seumas McNally, the festival’s highest honor.
Behind the game is AP Thomson, a young designer who has already made his mark on several impactful titles. For instance, he worked on Beglitched, another game where he experimented with mixing traditional strategy with match-3 style puzzles. Swap Sword also follows a similar path. Narratively and visually, there are elements reminiscent of Fortune-499, another highly celebrated game by Thomson, in this new title, Titanium Court.
More recently, AP Thomson, in collaboration with Jenny Jiao Hsia, released the extraordinary Consume Me. This game also achieved success at the IGF awards a few years prior. You might recognize the name AP Thomson if you follow this venerable website. We had the opportunity to chat with Jenny Jiao and AP Thomson himself on Reload, following the launch of Consume Me, and the podcast episode featuring the interview is available below.
