Arika has announced a permanent price reduction for Tetris: The Grand Master 4 -Absolute Eye-, the latest installment in its prestigious line of Tetris games designed for high-level play. As of June 4th, the price will drop to 2,800 yen, down from its current 3,900 yen.
This could translate to a price decrease from approximately 20 euros to 15 euros. However, the current official price in euros stands at 34 euros. We have contacted Arika for more information regarding the euro pricing.
This price revision is permanent and definitive, not a limited-time offer. They clarified this in their announcement: “This is a price revision. This is not a sale.”
This move perhaps reflects the viability of a game like this on Steam. The Grand Master 4, which was a favorite game of the first half of 2025, is presented as a very hardcore, high-level play version of the classic action puzzle series. It is simultaneously familiar, like the Tetris played by half the planet on Game Boy, and something radically different. It’s a super-niche game, by its very nature perhaps not destined for bestseller lists.
Furthermore, Arika’s license with The Tetris Company does not permit them to add online game modes, meaning multiplayer is local only. It’s hard to gauge how much this would have helped (Tetris 99, also by Arika, is exclusively multiplayer and remains popular today, over five years after its release), but it might have helped bolster the game’s value proposition. As it stands, it is arguably the best way to play Tetris on Steam, with apologies to Tetris Effect.
