Here are the ratings for every Real Madrid player who featured in the match against Alavés, as Los Blancos secured a victory at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Andriy Lunin – 6
While Lunin made an excellent save from Toni Martinez, it was an uncharacteristically shaky performance from the Ukrainian goalkeeper. On two occasions, he parried relatively routine shots back into dangerous areas and did not appear comfortable.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8
Alexander-Arnold delivered an encouraging performance, being one of Real Madrid’s best players for the opening hour. He made sharp passes, was a significant presence on the right flank, and was unlucky not to be rewarded for one of his two fine crosses. He was substituted after 64 minutes.
Eder Militao – 6.5
Militao was a casualty of the game, limping off after 45 minutes. The positive aspect is that the substitution appeared precautionary. He was made to work more than he might have preferred in the first half, and his absence was noticeable thereafter.
Dean Huijsen – 5
Huijsen was not particularly impactful with the ball, which is a key metric when judging him against a deep defense. Going the other way, he did not help bolster the fragile feel of the Real Madrid backline, which struggled to contain Martinez and Lucas Boye.
Alvaro Carreras – 4.5
Carreras returned to action, making his first start since a difficult outing against Michael Olise. Alavés wing-back Angel Perez caused him considerable problems, nearly capitalizing on Carreras’s struggles in the first half.
Jude Bellingham – 7.5
More promising signs were evident from Bellingham. While he is dropping deeper and appearing less frequently in the box, his movement and sharpness on the ball have been beneficial for Los Blancos in recent matches. He linked well with Alexander-Arnold and nearly provided an assist for Militao.
Fede Valverde – 6.5
Valverde provided the assist for Vinicius Jr.’s second goal, although the Brazilian did the majority of the work. The game largely passed Valverde by in midfield.
Aurelien Tchouameni – 6.5
This was not one of Tchouameni’s vintage performances this season. Without a traditional number 10 and with two forwards operating behind him to receive passes, he struggled to impose himself on Alavés in his usual manner.
Arda Guler – 6.5
Following a brilliant performance in Munich, Guler’s contribution in this match was more low-key. He showed glimpses of his quality with a couple of excellent passes, but he did not impact the game’s rhythm as he is capable of.
Kylian Mbappe – 5
While he did score, Mbappe should have found the net more times, and his goal was fortunate. He scuffed an easy chance from close range after a Vinicius Jr. cross and then bizarrely attempted to lob the goalkeeper from a one-on-one situation rather than bearing down on goal. It was not his finest display, and he appeared visibly irritated when whistled off at the end.
Vinicius Junior – 7.5
In the early stages, Vinicius Jr. struggled to beat his marker, and things were not flowing for him. However, he undoubtedly did enough to assist Mbappe’s goal, and his own goal was fantastic. While far from his best performance, he ultimately made the difference for the team.
Substitutes
Antonio Rudiger – 5
Rudiger looked rusty immediately upon entering the game, failing to close down Toni Martinez for a shot that hit the post. He was part of a general lackadaisical defensive effort in the closing stages, as Real Madrid seemed unable to clear the ball effectively.
Franco Mastantuono – 5
The confident Franco Mastantuono who started the season remains absent. Lacking confidence, one of the early positives was his willingness to be aggressive on the ball and attempt things, but he needs to rediscover that spirit.
Dani Carvajal – 6.5
Carvajal had an unremarkable performance, with the exception of one sublime cross into the box, for which he could have earned an assist.
Eduardo Camavinga – 5
Another player struggling with confidence, Camavinga looked out of sorts again. Alavés pressed Real Madrid in the later stages, and Camavinga was unable to help his team escape the pressure or halt the advances of Carles Alena and Ander Guevara.
Brahim Diaz – 7
Brahim Diaz was very unlucky not to score when his curling effort was brilliantly cleared off the line by Nahuel Tenaglia. He appears to be approaching the form he showed under Carlo Ancelotti two seasons ago, even if the end product is yet to fully materialize.
