The Edmonton Oilers will have to continue without their star players, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, as they are not expected to return to the ice this week.
Coach Kris Knoblauch announced on Monday after practice that neither McDavid nor Draisaitl will be available for the team`s upcoming three games this week due to their respective injuries.
Connor McDavid sustained an apparent lower-body injury during the game against the Winnipeg Jets last Thursday. He was unable to complete the second period and did not return to the game.
Despite what has been considered a less productive season for him, McDavid has still accumulated 89 points, including 26 goals and 63 assists, in 62 games played. He recently scored the decisive overtime goal for Canada in a match against the U.S. in the 4 Nations Face-Off final.
Leon Draisaitl`s injury occurred earlier, on March 18, in a game against Utah. The nature of his injury remains undisclosed. Draisaitl currently leads the league with 49 goals and tops the Oilers` scoring chart with 101 points.
