Sports news ยป Odd Meter Secures Funding for Next Project

Odd Meter, the studio behind the critically acclaimed game Indika, has announced that their next project is a significant step closer to reality. The developer has successfully raised $5 million in a funding round led by GEM Capital and Autotelic Ventures.

This influx of capital will enable the studio to expand its operations and maintain its focus on creating their new game. Dmitry Svetlow, speaking on behalf of Odd Meter, stated that they are leveraging all the lessons learned from Indika to embark on a new project that will push their artistic and narrative objectives further, while simultaneously scaling up production to a new level.

This is not the first time GEM Capital has invested in the gaming industry; they have previously backed projects such as Atomic Heart by Mundfish, Replaced by Sad Cat Studios, and the recent Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era by Unfrozen.

Details regarding the new game itself, including its publisher, remain undisclosed at this time. While Indika was published by 11bit Studios, Svetlow has indicated that a final decision for the new project’s publisher has not yet been made.

Odd Meter’s previous work, Indika, garnered significant praise for its strong ideas, unique sensitivity, and clear artistic intent. The game, which debuted with the studio now based in Kazakhstan (though founded in Russia in 2017), was lauded for its powerful narrative and cohesive presentation. As noted in its review, Indika deeply explores its themes through a potent blend of writing, visuals, and gameplay, offering a compact yet profound experience that delves into fervent self-denial with a distinctly Russian dark humor.
