UFC Commentator Suggests Volkanovski vs. Evloev for White House Card
Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan expressed significant admiration for Movsar Evloev's performance against Lerone Murphy.
This past Saturday, in the main event of UFC London, Evloev displayed a willingness to engage in a striking battle with knockout artist Murphy on his home turf. The 32-year-old Russian fighter maintained a consistent pace, landed impactful strikes that marked Murphy's face, and successfully secured multiple takedowns, ultimately stripping Murphy of his undefeated record.
After five rounds of relentless action, Evloev, who concluded the fight with strong momentum, was awarded a majority decision victory.
While many within the MMA community expressed dissatisfaction with the judges' scoring, believing Murphy deserved the win, Joe Rogan commended Evloev for prioritizing a slugfest over a wrestling-heavy strategy.
On his podcast, Rogan urged the promotion to schedule a fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Movsar Evloev for June 14, suggesting it would "spice up" the UFC Freedom 250 card.
Rogan stated, "Evloev's performance was incredibly impressive, especially his ability to exchange strikes with Murphy. I hope the UFC gives him a fair shot... A fight at the White House Lawn, let's make it happen. It's currently March, and June is a few months away, so there's enough time. Let's make that card exciting!"
Lerone Murphy Calls for Movsar Evloev to Receive Title Shot After Loss
Following his majority decision defeat to Movsar Evloev at UFC London, Lerone Murphy showed exceptional sportsmanship by publicly advocating for Evloev to be granted the next title shot.
Murphy stated, "I want to emphasize one thing: Movsar Evloev deserves the title shot. He is next in line. I'll be back, don't worry."
Meanwhile, Evloev, having solidified his position as a top featherweight contender, wasted no time in challenging champion Alexander Volkanovski.
Evloev declared, "Alexander Volkanovski has mentioned my name frequently, and I accept his challenge. Let's fight. UFC, there are no excuses left to deny me a title shot. I have nothing more to say."
UFC CEO Dana White has not yet confirmed Evloev as the next featherweight title challenger. During the post-fight press conference, White commented on the situation:
White remarked, "Possibly, yes. I'm not focused on that immediately; the fight just concluded. However, Evloev is certainly in a very strong position."
