Tom Aspinall Targets Interim Heavyweight Title Winner

UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall has voiced his keen interest in facing the victor of the impending clash between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250.

Scheduled as the co-main event for UFC’s White House card, the bout will see Alex Pereira attempt to claim a third divisional championship by challenging Ciryl Gane for the interim UFC heavyweight title. Many anticipate that Aspinall, once fully recovered, will make his return later this year to unify the belts against the winner of this pivotal encounter.

Following the announcement of the Pereira vs. Gane fight, Tom Aspinall shared his perspective on his UFC future in a recent video update.

Aspinall Looks Ahead

"I mean, who else is going to fight? The division's on its ass," Aspinall stated on his YouTube channel. "There's not many big fights to make, is there? So they've got to do what they've got to do."

Aspinall continued, "Obviously, I want to fight the winner of that. Just waiting now to get the green light, the all clear from the doctor to start training properly again. As soon as we can start training properly again, full contact in the gym, we will be getting a fight date booked to fight the winner. Just waiting for the clearance to be medically cleared, and then we go."

He further added, "As soon as the doctor clears me, we’ll let the UFC know and we’ll be looking to book a fight as soon as possible."

While Aspinall’s health remains the top priority, his potential return promises monumental matchups. A fight against Pereira would offer significant historical appeal, while a rematch with Gane would carry the added narrative of confronting the opponent who caused his initial injury and cast doubt on his career trajectory.
