Official Cause of Death Revealed for Legendary MMA Coach Duke Roufus
Duke Roufus, a renowned figure in the worlds of kickboxing and mixed martial arts, passed away in Milwaukee on October 17, 2025. While his death occurred some time ago, the official ruling regarding its cause has only recently been made public.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner has confirmed that Roufus succumbed to heart disease. An autopsy was conducted four days after his passing, and a report issued last month definitively attributed his death to hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
The medical examiner classified his death as natural, noting that obesity, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibrillation were significant contributing factors.
According to the medical examiner's investigation report, Roufus was discovered deceased in his bed by a neighbor. The neighbor had been prompted to check on him after he failed to pick up his 12-year-old daughter from school that day.
The report also detailed Roufus's last known public appearance, which was on October 16, 2025, at his daughter's volleyball game. His ex-wife reportedly observed at the time that he "seemed to be more tired than usual since he came back from Dubai two weeks ago."
On the night Roufus died, his father, Pat, conveyed his concern to the Medical Examiner’s Office, suggesting his son "may have been forgetting to take his prescription medication during his time in Dubai, as he was very busy," according to the investigation report.
