Mike Perry vs. Nate Diaz Event More Compelling Than UFC Freedom 250, Says Ex-BKFC Challenger

Mike Perry is set to return to mixed martial arts as Netflix enters the MMA landscape. A former BKFC title contender, Doug Coltrane, has expressed his strong interest in the upcoming bout between Perry and Nate Diaz, deeming it a more compelling event than UFC Freedom 250. Coltrane shared these sentiments during a recent appearance on Bare Knuckle Bowker, shortly before his first-round victory over former UFC fighter Maki Pitolo at BKFC Honolulu on April 11th.

While preparing to face David Mundell for the BKFC middleweight championship, Coltrane had previously called out Mike Perry for a potential fight. Upon hearing about the high-profile clash between Perry and Diaz on Netflix’s MMA card, Coltrane offered his perspective on the matchup:

“Personally, I don’t have a strong emotional investment in the fight itself. I think it’s a good opportunity for both fighters and they’ll earn well. However, I really like Nate. Everyone is a fan of Nate, and he’s always been one of my favorites. But at some point, you don’t want to see your favorites continue to take damage. Still, a big salute to them both.”

Expanding on his thoughts regarding the Mike Perry vs. Nate Diaz fight and the overall Netflix MMA event in comparison to the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 card scheduled for June, Coltrane stated:

“I will certainly be watching the fight. Frankly, I’m more enthusiastic about the Netflix card than the UFC’s upcoming event. While there are a few fights on the UFC card that are certainly interesting, if I’m being honest, I’m currently finding the Netflix card more appealing.”
