Former UFC heavyweight contender Mark Hunt was taken into custody in Sydney, Australia, on Wednesday, facing a charge related to domestic violence.

The New Zealand-originating former mixed martial artist and kickboxer, widely recognized by his nicknames “Super Samoan” and “King of Walk-Offs,” was subsequently granted bail following his arrest on April 15.

Reports indicate that Hunt was charged with one count of stalking or intimidation with the intent to cause physical harm.

According to an MMA Fighting report, the former fighter is accused of exhibiting aggressive behavior towards the alleged victim and a witness while she was assisting him with a task. The report further states that Hunt allegedly behaved in an “intimidating and berating manner,” causing the victim “fear and distress,” which prompted the involvement of law enforcement.

Authorities reportedly informed the court that Hunt is alleged to have sent the victim a text message containing a death threat, stating, “I’m just going to murder you in the end anyway.”

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Hunt’s legal representative indicated a probable guilty plea to the stalking and intimidation charge.

Hunt gained significant recognition for his tenure in the UFC from 2010 to 2018 and for winning the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix, establishing a reputation as a formidable heavyweight striker.
