Atletico Madrid player Marcos Llorente, known in Spain for his embrace of alternative beliefs and various conspiracy theories, has expressed gratitude towards an English newspaper that recently published a story on his views.
Llorente subscribes to several conspiracy theories, including notions about government population control via chemtrails and the supposed risk to skin health from sun exposure. The Telegraph published an article detailing these controversial perspectives, featuring quotes from Llorente and Spain’s Health Minister, which garnered significant online discussion.
Llorente’s ‘Thanks’ to The Telegraph
On his Instagram story, Llorente shared a screenshot of The Telegraph’s article, which described his theories as a “worrying hoax.” He responded with the following message:
“The more a message with meaning and substance is criticized, the further it spreads. I can only thank them for amplifying it. Not everyone is at the same point when it comes to understanding certain things. Those who know where they’re going don’t waste time on the noise they encounter along the way. We keep going. Strength and honour.”
Llorente’s Social Media Activity and Controversies
Llorente has previously attracted attention for his use of red and yellow tinted glasses, which he claims protect his eyes from artificial light. At a recent costume party, he dressed as a bottle of sunscreen, with the caption “protecting you against your biology.”
Furthermore, the 31-year-old faced criticism two years ago for the branding of his cafe roastery. Its logo, featuring two stylized backward ‘S’ letters, bore a strong resemblance to the symbol of the Nazi paramilitary organization, the SS.
