Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm has commented on recent statements made by Ronda Rousey. In 2015, Holm famously defeated Rousey at UFC 193 with a decisive head kick and ground-and-pound, ending Rousey’s undefeated streak and taking her bantamweight title.
Recently, Rousey suggested she could “clean Holly Holm’s clock” in a potential rematch. However, the 39-year-old clarified that while she possesses the ability to do so, she no longer desires to avenge past losses, preferring to focus on her family.
Addressing Rousey’s remarks, Holm told Ariel Helwani that she remains open to a rematch but believes Rousey does not genuinely desire it. “You can say one thing, and actions are another,” Holm stated. “She’s always going to be more of that type of personโฆ Iโve always said Iโll rematch her. Thatโs the bottom lineโฆ She doesnโt want it. Sheโs never wanted it, and thatโs alright. Iโm not even mad at her for it. I donโt want someone to get in there and fight if they donโt actually want to fight, because I want someone who wants it.โ
Holm, who is coming off a recent majority-decision loss, also revealed her plans to retire by the end of 2026. The 44-year-old former boxing world champion expressed a desire for “big fights” in her remaining bouts, ideally a couple within the year before concluding her career.
