Walt Disney Golf recently introduced a new statue of Grumpy, marking the entrance to the revamped four holes on Disneyโs Magnolia golf course, now affectionately named โGrumpyโs Gauntlet.โ
The iconic, famously cantankerous character from Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is positioned beside the tee box of the 14th hole. This is the first of four holes โ Nos. 15, 16, and 17 โ that form a challenging and engaging stretch, even for seasoned golfers.
Grumpy’s golf bag is a thoughtful detail, featuring a seven-iron to represent all the dwarfs and a replica golf ball with a dimple pattern mirroring those from 1937, the year the “Snow White” film was released.
Standing approximately six feet tall, the statue is carved from Carrara marble by Walt Disney Imagineering, utilizing an AI-powered stone-carving robot. It portrays Grumpy with his signature frown atop a rock, accompanied by his memorable movie quote: “Mark my words, thereโs trouble a-brewinโ!”
This new feature is expected to become a popular spot for memorable photo opportunities for golfers tackling the back nine.
In conjunction with the statue’s unveiling, “Grumpyโs Gauntlet” branded merchandise is now available at the Magnolia pro shop. The collection includes shirts, hats, and various other golf-related accessories and collectible items.
The Grumpy statue and merchandise are part of the ongoing enhancements at the Magnolia Golf Course, which boasts a storied history with many renowned professional golfers having played its fairways. These additions further integrate Disney’s signature storytelling into the course’s design.
Managed by Arnold Palmer Golf Management since 2011, Walt Disney World Golf has been recognized as the 2026 Resort Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association, with Disneyโs Magnolia leading the way.
Nearby, Disneyโs Palm Golf Course offers a slightly shorter, yet equally strategic, golfing experience.
For those seeking a more leisurely pace, Disneyโs Lake Buena Vista Golf Course provides a picturesque layout that has also hosted significant events. It is currently undergoing renovations and is slated to reopen later this year. The pro shop remains operational daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For players with limited time or those enjoying a family outing, Disneyโs Oak Trail Golf Course is the ideal choice. This 9-hole, walking-only course is perfect for quicker rounds and skill development. It is also part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, offering opportunities to observe local wildlife.
Oak Trail also features FootGolf on select afternoons, a fun hybrid of soccer and golf played with larger holes. It’s a casual, fast-paced, and surprisingly competitive activity, especially for groups.
Golfers can also test their skills on “The Greatest Green Ever Played,” an 18-hole putting course launched in 2024 and open to all guests. This putting paradise pays homage to Francis Ouimet’s historic 1913 U.S. Open victory, as depicted in the Walt Disney Pictures film “The Greatest Game Ever Played” (2005).
While golf might not be the immediate association with a destination built on imagination, for those who play here, it becomes evident that the magic extends to what is now known as “The Happiest Place on Turf!”
