Trent Alexander-Arnold Left Out of England Squad as Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford Make Cut

Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Real Madrid right-back, has been excluded from Thomas Tuchel's final England squad before the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Despite having a season often disrupted by injuries, the former Liverpool player recently achieved a consistent run of fitness and secured a regular starting spot under Alvaro Arbeloa.

For the first time this season, both Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal have been fit for an extended period. Alexander-Arnold has largely been favored in the starting lineup over Carvajal, who himself was omitted from the Spain squad. However, Alexander-Arnold's consistent club appearances were not enough to earn him a recall to the England team. Tuchel has instead selected Newcastle United's Tino Livramento and Tottenham Hotspur's Djed Spence.

Marcus Rashford and Jude Bellingham Secure Spots

Conversely, midfield talent Jude Bellingham earned a place in the squad despite not playing for Real Madrid since early February. He is anticipated to return from injury this Sunday for the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid, although his participation remains unconfirmed.

Barcelona forward Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, also received a call-up from Tuchel. While he has generally performed well this season, his form has seen a slight dip recently. He has featured in only four of Barcelona’s last seven games, failing to register a goal or an assist—marking his longest unproductive spell of the season.

Tuchel’s Past Comments on Alexander-Arnold and Bellingham

The England manager has previously drawn attention for his remarks concerning the Real Madrid duo. In September, Tuchel publicly apologized after describing some of Bellingham's conduct as 'repulsive'. Meanwhile, Tuchel has frequently praised Alexander-Arnold’s abilities and expressed confidence in his future at Real Madrid, stating that he 'needs to feel the faith of his managers.' Despite these supportive comments, it appears Alexander-Arnold remains outside the immediate plans for the World Cup squad.
