Earlier reports indicated that Barcelona could acquire Guirassy for €50 million, a price deemed reasonable for a player who has scored 56 goals in 89 appearances for Dortmund since his 2024 transfer from Stuttgart. While not Barcelona's top priority, his inclusion on their list is significant enough to cause apprehension among Saudi clubs also vying for his signature.
Alyaum (via Sport) reports that Al-Ittihad is keen on Guirassy, but club officials in Saudi Arabia are worried about potential intervention from Barcelona. The 30-year-old would welcome a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, but if the La Liga leaders were to call, he would prioritize that option.
Barcelona's Primary Target: Julian Alvarez
The good news for Al-Ittihad is that Julian Alvarez remains Barcelona's primary striker target for the summer. If the club manages to revert to La Liga's 1:1 financial fair play rule before the season concludes, a move for the Atletico Madrid forward, expected to cost well over €100 million, is highly probable.
However, it's far from certain that Barcelona will be able to spend heavily on a new striker, as they also plan to strengthen their center-back and left-wing positions. They might need to opt for a more cost-effective solution, which would be positive for Al-Ittihad, as Guirassy would likely be considered too expensive in such a scenario.
It remains to be seen whom Barcelona will pursue this summer, but it would be surprising if Guirassy becomes a concrete target.
