Girona's manager, Michel Sanchez, is attracting significant attention as his contract nears its expiration this summer. A prominent European club has now reportedly joined the list of potential suitors.

With his current deal expiring, Sanchez has indicated he will only discuss a new contract with Girona once their La Liga status for the upcoming season is secured. The Blanc-i-Vermells are in a strong position, currently 13th in the league, six points above the relegation zone, and only four points shy of a European qualification spot.

Ajax Shows Interest in Michel for Upcoming Season

Reports from Matteo Moretto on RadioMarca suggest that Michel Sanchez will have multiple opportunities this summer. Dutch club Ajax, with newly appointed sporting director Jordi Cruyff, is reportedly eyeing Sanchez as a potential replacement for current manager Fred Grim, who is expected to depart. Cruyff, well-acquainted with Sanchez's coaching prowess from his time as Barcelona's sporting director – a period when Girona notably finished third in La Liga, defeating Barcelona twice and scoring eight goals against them – has already contacted Sanchez's representatives regarding a move.

Michel Sanchez Attracts Interest from Other Clubs

Villarreal, facing uncertainty over Marcelino Garcia Toral's contract renewal, has also reportedly approached Sanchez as a possible candidate for their next season. Furthermore, Michel has previously been linked to the managerial position at Manchester City. Amid speculation surrounding Pep Guardiola's future there, Sanchez has openly stated his readiness to coach at any tier of football.

“I do see myself as ready, I see myself as ready to coach any team. I don’t know if they see it that way. Obviously, it’s not the same, but I have the ability to adapt and I want to experience it.”

Considering the widespread interest and his own statements, a departure for Michel Sanchez from Girona appears increasingly likely after five highly successful years at Montilivi.
