Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has expressed optimism regarding Harry Kane's availability for their highly anticipated Champions League encounter against Real Madrid next week. The star forward recently sat out England's second international fixture due to muscle discomfort and has not participated in training sessions.

Kane is widely regarded as Real Madrid's most formidable threat in the upcoming quarter-final, enjoying what is arguably the most prolific season of his career. He has already netted an astonishing 48 goals in 40 appearances this campaign, underscoring his crucial role for Bayern.

Kompany Provides Update on Kane's Fitness Ahead of Crucial Match

In a statement to BILD prior to Bayern's Bundesliga fixture against Freiburg this weekend, Kompany conveyed his hope that Kane would be fit to travel to Madrid for next week's match. However, Bayern supporters may still harbor concerns given Kane's absence from the squad this weekend, even if described as a precautionary measure.

Kompany quoted: "Harry trained well until Sunday. Subsequently, he experienced discomfort in his ankle during international duty. This will impact tomorrow’s game; he will not be available. It's not ideal, but I remain optimistic regarding his readiness for Tuesday."

Real Madrid's Injury Concerns Ahead of Quarter-Final

Real Madrid faces its own set of injury challenges, with star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois expected to miss both legs of the quarter-final tie. While Andriy Lunin has deputized capably, his shot-stopping prowess may not fully match the Belgian's. The club confirmed this week that Eder Militao is fit again. Currently, it appears Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo Goes will be the only players sidelined due to injury for the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday. Jude Bellingham has also regained fitness, though he is considered an outside chance to start, having played only 20 minutes since early February.
