Barcelona Midfielder Dani Olmo Rejects €40M Saudi Arabia Move

Barcelona's activity in the January transfer window was relatively quiet, marked by the sole arrival of Joao Cancelo and the departures of Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Dro Fernandez. However, a significant potential exit was narrowly avoided, as a Saudi Arabian club made an approach for one of the Catalan giants' key midfielders under the new management of Hansi Flick.

Reports earlier in the week indicated that Al-Qadsiah had been monitoring Dani Olmo, with plans for a potential summer bid. However, it has since emerged that the Saudi Pro League outfit had already made a concrete attempt to lure the Spanish international playmaker away from Spotify Camp Nou during the recent winter window.

According to Sport, Al-Qadsiah tabled a highly attractive contract offer for Olmo, reportedly valued at €40 million over four years. Despite the generous terms, the Barcelona player opted to reject the proposal, expressing no interest in departing Catalonia for a second stint elsewhere.

In addition to the player's contract, Al-Qadsiah had proposed a €60 million transfer fee to Barcelona for Olmo, indicating a willingness to raise their offer if required. Nevertheless, their ambitions were thwarted when the 27-year-old midfielder unequivocally stated he would not entertain any offer presented by the Saudi club's representatives.

Increasing Speculation Surrounding Olmo's Future

Olmo's current tenure at Barcelona has largely been underwhelming thus far. While he has occasionally displayed glimpses of his talent, his overall consistency has fallen short of expectations for a player for whom the Catalans reportedly invested €60 million in the summer of 2024.

Consequently, it is unsurprising that his future at the club is now under scrutiny. He has recently been linked with Inter Milan, and should his struggles with consistency at Spotify Camp Nou persist, Barcelona might find themselves open to considering offers for his services.
