2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Winnipeg Jets will be without a key defenseman as they attempt to force a seventh game in their playoff series against the Dallas Stars.

Prominent defenseman Josh Morrissey departed during the second period of Saturday`s sixth game and did not rejoin the team on the bench for the start of the third period.

Morrissey headed off the ice after an entanglement with Stars forward Mikko Rantanen, who appeared to land awkwardly on the Jets` assistant captain`s left leg.

The 6-foot tall blueliner had previously missed Game 1 of Winnipeg`s second-round playoff series, recovering from an upper-body injury sustained in the Jets` Game 7 victory over the St. Louis Blues in the first round.

Before leaving Saturday`s game, Morrissey had played 14 minutes and 56 seconds, registering one shot on goal, two hits, and four blocked shots.

The 30-year-old has accumulated six assists during the current post-season. In the regular season, Morrissey finished with a plus-17 rating over 80 games, contributing 17 goals and 62 points while averaging over 24 minutes of ice time per contest.
