Winnipeg Jets fans might feel a sense of injustice regarding the decisive goal in Game 3. The Dallas Stars scored in the third period, breaking a tie with a goal attributed to Alexander Petrovic, a play that immediately sparked controversy over whether it should have been allowed.
The goal came just four minutes into the final frame. Petrovic was driving towards the net during a Stars rush and, while positioned near the goal line, appeared to use his skate to steer the puck towards the Winnipeg net.
Despite being called a goal on the ice by the officials, the play prompted a review by the league. After a considerable delay for the video review, the original call on the ice was ultimately upheld, confirming the goal.
This peculiar goal, credited to Alexander Petrovic, clinched the game for the Dallas Stars. The review confirmed that the play, where the puck seemed to be directed towards the net by Petrovic`s foot and potentially deflected by Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck, met the criteria for a legal goal.
