Sports news ยป Uros Medic Set To Headline UFC Belgrade In Homecoming Bout Against 25-Fight Veteran

Uros Medic is slated to make his long-awaited professional appearance on Serbian soil. The UFC has confirmed its first-ever event in the Slavic nation, a Fight Night card dubbed UFC Belgrade, scheduled for August 1 at the Belgrade Arena. This announcement fueled expectations that local stars like Medic would feature prominently, especially after Medic openly advocated for the UFC to host an event in Serbia.

Now, “The Doctor” is set to fulfill that vision, securing a main event spot in a historic homecoming for the promotion.

Uros Medic vs. Daniel Rodriguez Confirmed for UFC Belgrade Main Event

The MMA organization announced on Monday that Uros Medic will headline UFC Belgrade in a welterweight matchup against Daniel Rodriguez, a fellow alumnus of Dana White’s Contender Series. MMA journalist Marcel Dorff initially reported the news of this pairing.

Medic enters this fight on a three-bout winning streak, coming off a spectacular knockout victory over veteran Geoff Neal at UFC Houston in February. The 33-year-old Serbian fighter’s last defeat occurred in January 2025, when he was knocked out in the first round by Punahele Soriano at UFC Vegas 101.

“The Doctor” boasts a 7-3 record within the UFC, with notable knockout wins against Muslim Salikhov, Gilbert Urbina, and Tim Means. Medic’s professional record stands at 13-3 overall, with all of his victories achieved by way of finish.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez last competed at UFC 318 in July 2025, where he secured a unanimous decision win against Kevin Holland. Following that victory, the 39-year-old Californian later disclosed his detention in Mexico for several months after allegedly being found with a marijuana joint in his vehicle while crossing the border.

“D-Rod” is currently on a three-fight winning streak and holds a 10-4 record in the UFC. His overall professional record is 20-5, featuring significant wins against opponents like Santiago Ponzinibbio, Li Jingliang, and Kevin Lee.
