Flyweight contender Maycee Barber weighed in at 126.5 pounds for her scheduled bout against Erin Blanchfield, exceeding the 125-pound limit plus the one-pound allowance for non-title fights. Erin Blanchfield successfully made weight at 125 pounds.
Despite the miss, UFC officials confirmed that the fight between Blanchfield and Barber will proceed at a catchweight. As a penalty, Barber will forfeit 20 percent of her fight purse.
This main event was anticipated as a showcase for two rising contenders hoping for a title shot, but Barber`s failure to make weight could complicate her path to championship contention, regardless of the fight`s outcome.
Maycee Barber was not the only fighter to miss weight. Allan Nascimento also came in heavy for his flyweight bout, weighing 127.5 pounds, which is 1.5 pounds over the limit.
Adding to the event`s complications, one fight was canceled on Friday morning. Trevin Giles pulled out of his 180-pound catchweight bout against Andreas Gustafsson due to an injury. Giles had accepted the fight on short notice, stepping in for Jeremiah Wells.
In another significant change, the bantamweight fight between Ketlen Vieira and Macy Chiasson was converted to a featherweight bout. This change was made because Vieira experienced weight management difficulties. Consequently, Vieira will forfeit 25 percent of her purse.
On a positive note, the participants in the lightweight co-main event, top 10 ranked fighters Mateusz Gamrot and Ludovit Klein, both successfully made the 156-pound limit.
