Dan Ige is preparing for his inaugural fight in the bantamweight division at Noche UFC, where he is scheduled to face David Martinez.

The transition to bantamweight wasn't initially on Ige's radar; he previously believed he'd remain at lightweight. However, a period of recovery from injuries after his last fight led him to re-evaluate. Maintaining his fight-week weight post-bout prompted discussions with his team and the UFC about a move to bantamweight, driven by both a personal challenge and strategic career considerations.

Upon confirmation that he could successfully make the 135-pound limit, Ige began his preparation. Impressively, during his training camp and weight-cutting process at the PI, he achieved personal bests in speed and performance, which bolstered his confidence and led him to request a high-caliber opponent.

When asked about his desired opponent, Ige expressed a willingness to face any fighter, ranked or unranked. Following a successful test cut for bantamweight, he inquired about a particular unranked fighter who had recently won. UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby, however, indicated a preference for matching Ige with a ranked opponent. Ige then suggested David Martinez and the Noche UFC event, an idea that was met with enthusiasm.

Dan Ige anticipates a challenging contest in his bantamweight debut against David Martinez at Noche UFC but is looking forward to the encounter. He is confident not only in his ability to secure an upset but also in achieving a stoppage victory, sending a strong message to the bantamweight division.

"We're going to make it exciting," Ige stated. "He's an elusive fighter with a lot of movement and kicks, possessing good timing. My goal is to set my traps and make him feel my power, intensity, and experience. I possess all the necessary attributes to win this fight. My mindset is to prepare for a grueling three-round war, but I genuinely believe I will finish him and earn a spot in the rankings."

Should Ige emerge victorious, he understands he will be positioned within contention for the bantamweight title. He emphasized that this move to a new weight class is precisely to pursue that championship goal.

"It feels like a fresh start, akin to my UFC debut all over again," Ige concluded. "I have the determination to go out and claim a title. I've had numerous opportunities and fallen short, but now I have another chance to make it a reality."
