Randy Brown and Nicolas Dalby are consistent highlights on main fight cards, and their latest performance showed why.
Both veteran welterweights were awarded an additional $50,000 for their thrilling fight at UFC Kansas City on Saturday. While Brown secured the victory via a spectacular second-round knockout against a bloodied Dalby, both fighters earned bonus money for their impressive performance.
This marks Dalby`s third time receiving the UFC Fight of the Night bonus, whereas Brown earned the distinction for the first time.
The Performance of the Night bonuses were awarded to Zhang Mingyang, who won the co-main event, and newcomer Malcolm Wellmaker, who made his UFC debut.
Zhang Mingyang delivered a dominant performance against Anthony Smith, forcing the former light heavyweight title challenger into a pre-planned retirement. Zhang overwhelmed Smith with first-round strikes. Once he gained the upper hand, “Mountain Tiger” showed no mercy, landing blows that left Smith bleeding and the canvas stained red after an elbow strike caused a cut.
Wellmaker, who recently earned a contract through the Dana White`s Contender Series, made a stunning debut by knocking out Cameron Saaiman with a single, powerful right hook. This victory improved Wellmaker`s professional record to 9-0.
