UFC welterweight contender Daniel Rodriguez has revealed his recent release from an eight-month incarceration in a Mexican jail. The exact reasons for his detention remain undisclosed at this time.
Rodriguez shared his experience, stating, “8 months in a cage in Tijuana Mexico never killed my spirit. I did everything possible to stay on point and ready for my return to the @ufc octagon, expect a hungrier more focused version of myself. They tried to take it all away now it’s time for me to comeback and show you all the monster prison created, thank you to legal and managment team, family and real friends to help me be a free man today.”
Rodriguez’s management team informed MMA Junkie that a comprehensive statement regarding the matter is expected to be issued next week.
The fighter, known as “D-Rod,” last competed in July 2025 at UFC 318, where he secured a unanimous decision victory against Kevin Holland. His professional mixed martial arts record now stands at 20 wins and 5 losses.
