The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is adding several new matchups to its upcoming event in Atlanta on June 14th. These newly announced fights will support the already set main event featuring former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman taking on Joaquin Buckley.
UFC officials confirmed on Tuesday that six additional fights are slated for the State Farm Arena event in June. These include:
- A welterweight clash between veterans Michael Chiesa and Court McGee. Chiesa aims to extend his current two-fight winning streak, while McGee is also riding momentum after his submission win against Tim Means last October.
- Undefeated prospect Mansur Abdul-Malik in a middleweight bout against Cody Brundage. This will be Abdul-Malik`s second Octagon appearance following his contract-earning performance on The Contender Series.
- A women`s flyweight contest between Tereza Bleda and Jamey-Lyn Horth.
- Middleweight Edmen Shahbazyan returning to the cage to face Andre Petroski in what is anticipated to be a stylistic clash between a striker and a grappler.
- Georgia`s own flyweight veteran Cody Durden will have the opportunity to compete in front of his home crowd against Jose Ochoa.
- Rounding out the recent additions, Alonzo Menifield is scheduled to face the undefeated Oumar Sy in an intriguing light heavyweight (205 pounds) contest.
As previously confirmed, the co-main event for the Atlanta card will feature former two-time strawweight champion Rose Namajunas continuing her run in the flyweight division against Miranda Maverick.
The full and finalized fight card for the UFC Atlanta event on June 14th is still pending official announcement.
