Figures from the world of MMA and the UFC are making appearances in the upcoming Naked Gun film, a sign of the sport`s continued expansion into mainstream entertainment like Hollywood.
Set to premiere in theaters on August 1st, the new comedy-action movie is a legacy sequel to the beloved classic franchise that originally starred Leslie Nielsen. This latest installment features Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson and aims to continue the series` tradition of parodying typical police films. Although extensive plot details are still limited, a recent trailer confirms the movie will include a scene centered around mixed martial arts.
A trailer released on Monday showcased cameos from several notable MMA personalities, including Justin Gaethje, Michael Bisping, Jon Anik, Bruce Buffer, and “Big” John McCarthy. One highlight from the footage shows Neeson`s character seemingly punching out both Buffer and McCarthy.
The film`s cast also includes WWE superstar Cody Rhodes, who is also a representative for TKO Group Holdings, along with other actors such as Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, and Danny Huston. The movie is directed by Akiva Schaffer, known for his work on Saturday Night Live, and Seth MacFarlane, the creator of series like Family Guy and Ted, serves as an executive producer.
