Veterans Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson, with a combined 50 UFC fights, are set to compete at UFC 318.
The promotion recently announced this welterweight bout will take place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on July 19.
This marks Magny`s 35th walk to the Octagon. He aims to rebound from consecutive first-round knockout defeats against Michael Morales and Carlos Prates. Earlier in 2024, Magny secured a comeback TKO victory over Mike Malott at UFC 297, a result that fit into a pattern of alternating wins and losses in his recent seven outings.
Nelson is making a quick return to action, competing twice in a single year for the first time since 2019. Known as “Gunni”, he recently saw a two-fight winning streak end with an entertaining decision loss to Kevin Holland at UFC London in March. Before that bout, Nelson had recorded a submission win against Bryan Barberena and a decision victory over Takashi Sato.
The UFC 318 event is headlined by the highly anticipated third meeting between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway, fighting for the BMF title.
