Sports news » UFC 315 results: Natalia Silva gunning for gold after shutting out Alexa Grasso in dominant win

Natalia Silva has her sights set on championship gold following her incredibly dominant performance against former champion Alexa Grasso at UFC 315.

The Brazilian fighter demonstrated remarkable striking prowess and dynamic movement that consistently frustrated Grasso, preventing her from initiating effective offense. In contrast, Silva effectively landed a variety of strikes throughout the bout, securing the most significant win of her professional career.

All three judges scored the contest 30-27 in favor of Silva, resulting in a clear unanimous decision victory.

“We knew there was a path [to victory],” Silva stated after the fight. “My fighting style is different and it’s by Natalia Silva. Dana [White], that belt’s going to look beautiful on me!”

Silva`s rapid footwork and movement gave her an early advantage as she expertly managed distance with various kicks and quick punch combinations. Grasso struggled to keep pace, managing to land a clean jab before attempting a takedown, which Silva successfully countered before disengaging back to the center of the octagon.

Silva then landed a powerful side kick directly to Grasso`s face, eliciting audible reactions of surprise from the Canadian crowd in attendance.

As the rounds progressed, Silva continued to selectively land strikes, connecting with sharp hand combinations and snapping off kicks in quick succession. Silva`s continuous movement proved challenging for Grasso, who was constantly forced to chase and react to the incoming attacks from the Brazilian.

Just before the conclusion of the second round, Grasso finally managed to press Silva against the cage and engage in an exchange of punches. However, Silva effectively defended and absorbed minimal damage during this sequence.

Grasso`s difficulties persisted into the third and final round. Silva maintained her movement, landing effective counters and stiff combinations that noticeably snapped Grasso`s head back, visibly increasing her opponent`s frustration.

A lightning-fast head kick from Silva opened a cut on Grasso`s face, causing bleeding. This moment appeared to be the decisive point of the fight. Silva began her celebration as a visibly dejected Grasso realized she had suffered her second consecutive loss.

This was an exceptionally impressive showing from Silva. By defeating a former champion in such dominant fashion, she has likely cemented her status as a top contender in the division. The flyweight championship is set to be decided later at UFC 315 in the co-main event between Valentina Shevchenko and Manon Fiorot.
