UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall anticipates receiving clearance for contact training shortly, as his eye is healing favorably.
Aspinall sustained a double eye poke during his championship bout against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321. The fight was subsequently declared a no-contest, allowing the British fighter to retain his heavyweight title.
Following the incident, Aspinall underwent surgery on both eyes. While he has been able to train in the gym over the past few months, he has not yet been medically cleared for sparring.
During Aspinall’s extended recovery period, Ciryl Gane and Alex Pereira are scheduled to compete for the interim heavyweight championship on June 14. The victor is expected to face Aspinall later this year in a title unification bout.

Aspinall remains uncertain about the exact date of his return to the octagon. However, he is confident that he will face the upcoming interim heavyweight champion, a sentiment echoed by the UFC.
